What inspires you?
Jan 22nd
Everybody finds inspiration in different ways, but if we want to achieve our best we need to feed on those things, events or people that inspire us.
Liverpool played Spurs at anfield earlier this week, and some of the Liverpool fans decided it might help the team if they gathered outside the ground with their banners as the teams arrived. Liverpool duly won 2-0 and feedback from the coaching staff and players after the game said it help with their motivation for the game, knowing that the fans were solidly behind them. In an interview after the game Harry Redknapp, the Spurs manager, commented;
“You come here to Anfield, you stand there and listen to that crowd, and it’s the greatest sight in football.”
What inspires you and what effect does it have on you?
The art of man management…

The Premier League in England is nearing its conclusion, with 3 teams due to be relegated to the lower league. There are a number of teams still in the frame to go down and they have 6 games left to save themselves.
One of the teams in danger lost again on Saturday and their manager gave a rallying cry in the post match interview about their next game, against one of their rivals for relegation. It’s a must win game and this is what he said:
“They need to listen — that’s all they need to do,” the manager said of his team. “That’s what they are paid to do. None of those guys are ever going to be as good as I am at what I do, because they are only players and I am the manager, so make sure you listen to me.”
Come next saturday I can imagine his players will be busting a gut to do their best for him, with these stirring words ringing in their ears……..
Brian Williams was a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, here’s his thoughts:
“You are only as good as the coach thinks you are.”
I hope the Premier League manager’s players don’t play down to his expectations of them….
Belief in your self

Do you remember Paul Potts on Britain’s Got Talent? Watch the video below and look at the judges expressions before, during and after Paul starts to sing. Their reactions to him change completely during his performance, as he puts his heart and soul into Nessun Dorma.
When Paul walked out on that stage he didn’t look confident, he didn’t sound confident and he didn’t inspire confidence. If he didn’t have faith in himself why should anyone else? Once he started to sing though that all changed!
Believe in yourself…
Here’s Simon Cowell’s take on Paul (you will need to double click the video):
Simon Cowell on Paul Potts
When you meet somebody first impressions are crucial. If they don’t expect much from you, they will start to look for evidence to back up this thought process. Thankfully for Paul, his natural ability was able to rise above the initial impression he had made.
Having confidence and faith in yourself and your ability is the key to making the most of opportunities. If you check out some of Paul’s latest video clips on you tube you will see a world of difference in the aura around him. He is still shy, but he exudes far more confidence in himself. As a result expectations of what he is capable of are far higher.
